As an artist for the TEAM LEWIS Foundation, I strive to find avenues to educate, raise awareness, and build stronger relationships by researching the intersection of the creative and communication industries and significant global sustainable concerns. With National Children's Day (#NationalChildrensDay) in May and Global Day of Parents (#GlobalDayOfParents) in June, I've put together an art lesson plan that carries forward the themes of collaboration in my last post, Participatory Art and Labour: Exploring Creative Collaboration and Advocacy, into a parent-child collaborative painting lesson.

Overview

This lesson will engage pupils in creating collaborative artwork with their parents, focusing on creativity and bonding through art. Pupils will explore the theme of collaboration and produce unique pieces together.

Objectives

  • Understand the concept of collaboration in art.
  • Enhance creativity through joint parent-child artwork.
  • Strengthen the bond between parents and children through the art-making process.

  • Fast Progressors: Encourage them to take on leadership roles to guide the collaborative process.
  • Extra support: Pair with a buddy system for assistance during the activity. Activityarners: Use visual cues and provide bilingual instructions or support.

Assessment will be conducted through observations of collaboration, creativity, and the final artworks produced. Additionally, questioning during the activityActivitysess understanding of collaboration and art techniques.
